Ronald Merkel

Ronald J. Merkel, a lifetime Raymond resident died Sunday, May 25th, at the Willapa Harbor Hospital in South Bend; he was 71. Ron was born September 24, 1942 in Raymond to Jacob M. and Helen R. (Madden) Merkel. He was a member of the American Legion and the Raymond Eagles. He enjoyed reading, and computers and loved to fish. He served 7 years in the U.S. Navy. Ron worked for Weyerhaeuser prior to becoming an Equipment operator for the Washington Department of Transportation, retiring from a disability in 1999. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Teresa of Menlo; a daughter Francine Jennings of Port Angeles, and a brother Bob Merkel of Willapa Valley. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements were in care of Stoller’s Mortuary in Raymond.
