Raymond

It's with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Ray F. Thompson, 88, on March 4, 2026. He leaves behind a life marked by curiosity, generosity, loyalty, and quick-wit. A lifelong learner with a deep appreciation for people and adventure.

Ray proudly served in the United States Army as a rifleman stationed in Germany after completing training at Fort Ord, CA. During that time, he was married 28 years to Pat Greinke and together they raised their son, Dorn.

Ray worked many years for the Washington State Department of Transportation as a mechanic from which he later retired.

He lived in Raymond for many years with his wife of 27 years, Dedie Orkney. Together they enjoyed many RV travels with the group Belles and Buoys; hosted many family reunions, & stayed active in their community. Ray especially loved building & flying RC planes, motorcycles, music, & his treasured 1932 Ford Coupe.

After Dedie's passing Ray moved to Centralia WA rekindling a longtime friendship & later companionship with Sharon Lamotte.

Ray is preceded in death by his parents James Peter and Elizabeth Dee Thompson; siblings Evelyn and Jim.

He is survived by companion Sharon Lamotte; son Dorn Thompson; grandson Mark (Desiree) Honschke & great grandchildren Morgan, Max & Jack Honschke, nephew Scott (Kathy) Thompson; and many more beloved family members.

A graveside service will be held June 27, 2026 at 1:00 pm at Fern Hill Cemetery, followed by a gathering at the Raymond Elks Lodge. Ray never missed a chance to share a story, lend a hand, or enjoy a visit, and will be deeply missed.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Willapa Harbor Helping Hands or the charity of your choice.
