Mary Mittge

June 7, 1932 — July 5, 2014

Mary Alice Mittge of Raymond, WA passed away at home on July 5, 2014 at the age of 82. She was born in South Bend, WA on June 7, 1932. She attended Willapa Valley High School. Mary Alice was married to Lewis Ruddell in 1949, together they had 4 children. She was widowed in 1955 and remarried in 1958 to Eldon Mittge. Together they had 2 additional children. After raising her family she volunteered with the reading program at school. Mary had worked several jobs including driving school bus for South Bend, wrapping meat for Ken Corey, and assisting at Vetter’s Animal Hospital. She was very active in the TOPS organization in Raymond, and enjoyed her time volunteering at Pennywise. She loved gardening, crocheting baby sweaters, and baking homemade buns and bread. Mary lived a full life caring for her family. Most of all, she loved her grandchildren dearly. Mary is survived by 5 sons, Bob (Linda) Ruddell, John Ruddell, Mike (Coni) Ruddell, Randy (Lorie) Mittge, and Rick (Shelley) Mittge, all of Raymond; a daughter Louise (Mike) Mauermann of Chehalis; a brother Frank Butz also of Raymond and a sister Margaret Somero of Montesano WA. She was also survived by 17 grand children, 27 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother George Butz. The family would like to extend a special thank you to caregivers Ruth Ruby, Dawn Soulinh, her hospice nurse Kim Bair and to Dr. Hing and his staff. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday July 9, 2014 at the Fern Hill Cemetery in Menlo, followed by a potluck luncheon at the Crossroads Church in Raymond.
