Mary Louise Guernsey

Jun 24, 1934 — Aug 10, 2026

Mary Louise Guernsey entered Heaven on August 10, 2026, while at the Willapa Harbor Care Center. She was 92 years old.

Mary was born on June 24, 1934, in Merritt, British Columbia, Canada, to Charles and Thelma Lomsdalen. When Mary was three years old, her family moved to Raymond, Washington, where she would grow up and built a life centered around faith, family, music and service to others.

Mary graduated from Raymond High School in 1953. Later that year, in November, she married her high school sweetheart, Stanley Guernsey. Together Mary and Stanley shared 71 years of marriage and built a loving family of which she was incredibly proud.

Mary was a devoted member of the Raymond Assembly of God Church, where she faithfully served as the church pianist for more than 50 years. Music was an important part of her life and her faith. She loved singing and listening to old gospel hymns, and some of her most treasured moments were when her children gathered around the piano to sing Christmas carols and beloved hymns with her.

Mary also had a wonderful gift for hospitality. She had a way of making people feel welcome and cared for, and family was always at the center of her life. The Lomsdalen family heritage was especially important to her. Mary was the baby of 21 children. Her brother, Ernest Lomsdalen, is her only surviving sibling.

Mary leaves behind a beautiful legacy of faith, music, hospitality and a large and loving family.

She is survived by her twin daughters, Becky (Steve) Coburn and Debbie (Greg) Blevins; daughter Vickie Bale; and twin sons, Daniel (Marie) Guernsey and David (Sharon) Guernsey. She also leaves behind 17 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and many great great-grandchildren, each of whom was part of the family she loved so dearly.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents and many of her sisters and brothers.

Mary will be remembered for her love of the Lord, her devotion to her family, the countless hymns she played and sang, and the warmth and hospitality she shared with those around her. Her music, her faith, and the love she poured into her family will continue to live on for generations.

Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in knowing that Mary has entered her heavenly home and that the beautiful legacy she created will never be forgotten.

A joint memorial service for Mary and Stan will be held on September 19th at 1:00 p.m. at Crossroads Assembly in Raymond. Family and friends are invited to gather together to remember and celebrate their lives and the many years they shared.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the Raymond Ambulance and to the staff of the Willapa Care Center for the wonderful and compassionate care Mary received.
