Marvin “Marv” LaVern Eschbach, age 90, passed away March 25, 2021 at his home, surrounded in love by his family. Born February 1, 1931 in Sisseton, South Dakota to Franklin J. And Emma (Linder) Eschbach. The family (along with his 5 brothers and sisters) moved west to Washington when Marv was a youngster. Upon graduating from Bothell High School in 1950, Marv married his high school sweetheart Dolores (Wheatman), who has preceded him in death. He is survived by daughters Yvonne Kauzlarich (Jerry), Teresa Cearns (Dan) of South Bend, and a son Eric Eschbach (Kelly) of Gilbert, Arizona. He has also left a legacy of 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, soon to be 16, and 4 great-great grandchildren. Marv was employed by the Washington State Patrol for 28 years as a Weight Control Officer, stationed in various cities around the state. One of his transfers brought him to South Bend, where he resided from 1962 until 1978, when he was then transferred to Renton, WA. After retiring from the State Patrol, Marv worked for Commercial Carriers in Kent, WA. “Papa Marv” enjoyed golf, steel heading, playing guitar, John Wayne Movies, Classic Country Music, and woodworking. Affectionately known as “Carvin’ Marvin”, Marv utilized his talent in the creation of various whirligigs, walking sticks, and other assorted carvings throughout the years. Marv was also a member of the First Lutheran Church of South Bend. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Raymond Fire Department or First Lutheran Church BackPack Program.
