Martcil Eugene “Marty†Kotula, a longtime resident of Frances passed away Sunday, June 16, 2013 at his home, he was 85. He was born February 23, 1928 in Hoquiam, WA to Martcil and Laura (Thrash) Kotula. Marty graduated from Hoquiam High School in 1947 and went on to attend Washington State University and graduated in 1951 with a degree in engineering. He married Dorothy Sue Gilbert in Hoquiam, WA August 13, 1949; she survives him. He held a position at Bonneville Power for 4 years and then worked as an electrical engineer for Boeing for 27 years in special designs. Marty was a member of the Junior Chamber of Commerce, the Raymond Elks Club, the Boeing Ski Club and was Holy Family Church Council â€" Eucharistic Minister. He loved his time spent hunting, fishing, camping with family, clam digging, skiing, sailing, light air craft flying and wood working. Marty spent the summer months during his youth working at Hood Canal. He enjoyed exploring and hiking throughout the Olympic Wilderness. Marty was a professional musician, played percussion in stage bands, orchestras and mastered the piano for his family get-togethers. His favorite past times were recalled by family as his time spent and people he met, including his wife Dorothy Sue, along the shores of Lake Quinault. The two courted and spent a lot of time around the Lake, where he and his father built a summer cabin on Lake Quinault where the whole family would share in many memories. Marty is survived by his wife Dorothy Sue, a son Peter R. Kotula of Raymond, two daughters Jane E. Galloway of Vancouver and Jil M. Muller of PeEll; ten grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son Martcil C. Kotula in 2011 and a daughter Dixie S. Kotula in 2007. Rosary services will be held at 9:00 a.m. Saturday, June 22, 2013 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Frances with Funeral Mass to follow at 10:00. A burial will follow at the Holy Family Catholic Cemetery. A gathering will be held for all friends and family at the Swiss Hall in Frances immediately following committal services. Memorials may be made to the Holy Family Catholic Church in Frances. Arrangements are in care of Stoller’s Mortuary in Raymond.
