Margaret Frost

Margaret Ellen Frost, a longtime Willapa Harbor resident, died Thursday, November 16, 2017 at Willapa Harbor Care Center in Raymond; she was 92. Margaret was born May 18, 1925 in Lafayette, Indiana to Clair F. and Doris (McKenney) Bowman. She was raised in Bozeman and Helena, Montana as well as Stoneleigh, Maryland and Lincoln, Nebraska where she completed high school. She attended the University of Nebraska for two years majoring in Geology. She also attended Grays Harbor Community College graduating in 1984 with an Associate of Arts Degree. Margaret married Harry G. Frost June 7, 1945 in Lincoln, Nebraska. Following their marriage, Harry and Margaret moved to Harry\\'s hometown of Raymond, Washington. Harry preceded her in death in 1982. Margaret was involved in several organizations, including the Raymond Kiwanis Club, Bridge Club, and the Senior Citizens Club. She sang for years in the Willapa Chorale and was a Sunday Afternoon Live season ticket holder. She served as the Ministerial Association Food Bank Director and Director of FISH Emergency Services for many years. She was a member of Girl Scouts for 35 years, leading Girl Scout troops, and serving on the Board of Directors of the Far West Girl Scout Council and the Paci?c Peaks Girl Scout Council. She taught ESL and led a senior exercise group at her church. Margaret was an active member in local churches throughout her years including Raymond Presbyterian Church, Raymond United Methodist Church and the Willapa United Methodist Church. She enjoyed reading, gardening, quilting, playing piano and organ, sewing, genealogy, cake decorating, ceramics and pottery, crossword puzzles, exercise classes, and canning. Margaret took classes in computers, mushrooming, and basic auto mechanics for women. She had many grand adventures while traveling with her sister and her sister\\'s husband, visiting many exotic locations. She also went on Elderhostel trips for genealogy research and other educational endeavors. Margaret is survived by two daughters, Alida Shepherd of Westland Michigan and Carol (Richard) Malone of Raymond, WA; a son Wayne (Mary) Frost of Raymond, a sonâ€"in-law Lee Bussard also of Raymond, as well as six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband Harry, her eldest daughter Mary Bussard, her brother Joe Bowman, her sister the Reverend Katherine Cone and a son-in-law John Shepherd. Memorial donations Margaret’s memory may be made to Willapa United Methodist Church at 969 Willapa 1st St, Raymond, WA 98577. Memorial services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 9, 2017 with fellowship and light refreshments to follow at the Willapa United Methodist Church.
