Larry James Doubek was born to James Vaclav Doubek and Bessie Langer Doubek on July 8th, 1939. He was born at home on the family farm between Menlo and Lebam on highway 6 in Pacific County Washington. At the time of his birth there was a train station called Holcomb. His birth certificate states his birth place as Holcomb Washington. He was preceded in death by his parents and two siblings Robert Doubek and Delores Hughes and her husband Marion Hughes. 

Larry graduated from Willapa Valley High School in 1957 and went on to study silva culture at Centralia College. He married his high school sweet heart and they had two children, Richard Howard Doubek and Debbie Sanderson. After graduating from Centralia College he went to work for the USDA forest service. He worked on the Siuslaw National forest for 26 years in various roles of timber sale administration and wild land fire fighting. In 1985 he was offered early retirement during a reduction in force after Gramm-Rudman. He went on to work for the Oregon Department of Forestry as State Inventory Forester and fight fires during the summer. 

Larry married Mary Jane Doubek in 1985. He retired from the State of Oregon in 1995. when Mary Jane's job was transferred to Washington and he was able to work full time back on the family tree farm where he was born. 

Over the last several years his heart was not well and he lived between Dallas, Oregon, just west of Salem, Oregon, and the farm at Holcomb. A couple of years ago he moved back to Washington to live where he was born. 

Friday, October 30, while under the care of hospice, his heart stopped and he died peacefully in his sleep.
