Jeanne Margaret (Henderson) Jones passed away on January 19, 2026 after a quiet and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She was at home where she wanted to be surrounded by family and many of her dearest friends.
Jeanne was born on December 7, 1945 in Aberdeen, Washington to John and Betty Henderson. She graduated from Raymond High School in 1964 where she was active in the school band playing drums, a talent later passed down to her son. After graduating she moved for a short time to Tacoma, Washington to work.
In 1967, she returned to Raymond and married Robert P. Jones. They lived in many areas around town over the years, but Jeanne especially loved the process of creating a home. Together, they built two houses, each reflecting her creativity, thoughtfulness, and the care she lovingly poured into every detail. In 1970 their son Casey was born and in 1974 they had their daughter Leslie. The family spent many years enjoying the sport of motocross. Jeanne still loved the sound and smell of the sport many years later and enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren tear around the fields surrounding her home.
Jeanne worked in the local community at Seafirst Bank in downtown Raymond and often enjoyed a vanilla Coke at the original Dairy Queen next door when she was on her break. She also dedicated many years of service to the state of Washington, first with the Washington State Patrol and later with the Department of Social and Health Services, retiring in 2012. Jeanne always needed to stay busy, so not long after her first retirement, she began working for the Raymond School District at Raymond Elementary. With her caring heart and meticulous organizational skills, she quickly became a favorite among both staff and students.
She was known for loving life and embracing each day with enthusiasm and joy. Jeanne had a vibrant personality and unique interests that made her one-of-a kind. Her passions included crafting, gardening, and mowing her lawn. Pink was her favorite color and heavy metal was her favorite music. Those who knew her well were never surprised when she drove up in her immaculately clean car, blasting AC/DC, a moment that always captured her spirited and fun-loving nature.
She is survived by her two children, Casey (Renise) Jones and Leslie Jones-VanBlaricom; one bonus daughter, Amber; four grandchildren, Emily, Casey Jr., Caden, (Esme) and Marshall; two bonus granddaughters, Olivia and Ava; her sister, Margie (Gary); nephews Jody and Marty; her cousins, Yvonne, Arlene, Toni, Penny, and Nancy; as well as many, many loving friends who will miss her dearly. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, retired Raymond Fire Chief Bob Jones.
A celebration of Jeanne’s life will be planned at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Raymond Fire Department Scholarship or to the Raymond School Foundation.
