James Adkins

August 29, 1956 — August 15, 2017

James Melvin Adkins, our beloved father, brother and friend went to be with his Lord in the month of August, this year of 2017. James was born on August 29th, 1956 to Melvin and Sarah (Edwards) Adkins in San Bernardino California. His family resettled in Pacific County while he was in grade school. He went on to graduate from Raymond High School in 1974. James worked in business, sales, and management. He married the love of his life Debi (Hansen) in 1976. James and Debi raised three children together. His family was his greatest pride. His interests were simple and genuine. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He had a wonderful sense of humor and he liked to make others laugh. James loved to be outside in nature, take long walks, shoot his rifle, fish, and build large bonfires. He also had an unpretentious intelligence that drove him to explore, dissect, and debate different ideas. For this reason, he loved to read, and while he read countless books in his lifetime, the Bible was his favorite and most treasured book. Although not a religious man, his relationship with God was important to him, and he spoke of it with great passion. In addition to other friends and family, James is survived by his sister Nancy Adkins, his best friend Debi Adkins, his three children, Dave Adkins, Steve Adkins, and Jennifer Hutchins, and four grandchildren Kamryn, Katie, and Tyler Adkins, and Abraham Hutchins. James will be missed with every passing day, until he is reunited with all who cherished him. He will be remembered by his children for his unconditional love, and remembered by many others for his friendship, compassion, deep conversations, and humor. We are grateful for the times we had with him, for the love, the hugs, the laughs, the stories, the wisdom, the support, the advice, the adventures, the fun, the memories. A graveside service will be held at Fern Hill Cemetery in Menlo on Friday September 15th, at 11AM. Arrangements were in care of Stoller’s Mortuary in Raymond.
