Irma Jean Lawrence, a resident of South Bend, died Sunday, January 27, 2019 at the Willapa Harbor Care Center in Raymond. She was 87. Irma was born December 13, 1931 in Spearville, Kansas to Frederick Myer and Nora Mildred (Cool) Lawrence. She graduated from Spearville High School and went on to earn her Associates of Arts Degree from Dodge City Junior College. Irma had resided in Southern, CA where she and her husband John Barnes owned Barnes Music Store from 1966 to 1970. Together they moved to Puyallup, WA from 1972 to 1974. Irma later married Jeremiah McGonigle in 1974 and they moved to Enumclaw, WA where they operated a dairy farm. Irma left Enumclaw in 1985 and went to work for King County Tax Division for 10 years in Seattle and retired in 1997. She retired to the Willapa Harbor in 1997, settling in South Bend. Irma thoroughly enjoyed her time spent as a member of the Women’s Bridge Group, she was also a member of the South Bend Methodist Church. She treasured her time spent fishing and painting. Irma is survived by her son John F. Barnes of Sheridan, WY; and her daughters Shaun Downard of South Bend and Susan Eggers, seven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren as well as her nieces and nephew Lana, Larry and Nancy. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 1, 2019 at Stoller’s Mortuary in Raymond followed by a graveside committal service at the Bay Center Cemetery.
