Guy Ulysses Priest Guy Priest passed away in the hospital on January 3 after battling a combination of health issues. Guy was born December 10, 1938 to Grant & Hazel Priest in Aberdeen, Washington. He graduated from Willapa Valley High School in 1957. After finishing university at Washington State University and the University of New Mexico, he joined the Peace Corps where he started 4-H agricultural clubs in some of the longhouses of Malaysia. While in Malaysia, Guy met his future wife June. They were married on August 13, 1967 in Tacoma, Washington. Guy and June lived in Tacoma, Washington from 1967 to 1970. They lived in Taipei, Taiwan from 1970-1975, then moved back to the family farm in Nalpee where Guy has lived since. Guy taught elementary school in Tacoma, at Taipei American School in Taiwan and at Raymond Elementary School. Guy was an active member of St. John’s Episcopal Church; then Lebam Wesleyan Church where he was a board member and then served as pastor; and finally New Beginnings Wesleyan Church in Raymond. He was a very social person and was active in many community activities and organizations over the years. These included 4H, Habitat for Humanity, the Menlo Fair, and various square dance clubs. He also participated in many service trips domestically and internationally. Guy is survived by his Aunt Shirley Hettiger and his two sons Gerald and Greg Priest and their families. A Celebration of Life service will be held on January 11, 2019 at the Lebam Community Church at 11a.m. At Guy’s written request, he would like“lots of music and rejoicing. What a joy to go home to the Lord!! If you have chosen to follow the Lord God, I will look forward to meeting you in heaven. Rather than a lot of expensive arrangements or flowers, please donate the money to some charitable cause in my name.”
