Fred Huber was born January 3, 1939 to Swiss immigrants Joe and Hermina (Muller) Huber. Except for his time of service in the US Army, he spent his entire life living on the family dairy farm on Elk Prairie in Frances. He passed away on October 5, 2015 in the same home he was raised in.Fred graduated from Willapa Valley High School in 1957 after attending Lebam High School. He and his brothers Adolph and Conrad operated Elk Prairie Dairy. Fred was very proud of his Swiss heritage and instilled that in his children and grandchildren. He was a lifelong member of the Lewis Pacific Swiss Society and especially loved making a few trips around the dance floor there. He was also a member of the Lewis Pacific Dairymen’s Association, the American Legion, Lebam Volunteer Fire Department, and Holy Family Catholic Church. Fred is survived by his wife, Dorothy (Wheeler); his son, Joe Huber; his daughter, Catrina Taylor and her husband, Paul; his grandchildren, Bryan, Jacob, Robin, and Kelli, and his great-grandson, Rawlind; his brother Adolph Huber and wife, Geri; his sister Rosemary Knotek; and also, the mother of his children, Mary Huber. He was preceded in death by his son, Dalton, along with his parents and his brother, Conrad. A pot luck gathering of family and friends will take place at the Swiss Hall in Frances on Saturday, October 24 at 1:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Lewis Pacific Swiss Society, c/o Patti Gwerder, 331 Elk Prairie Rd., Raymond, WA 98577. Cremation arrangements were in care of Stoller’s Mortuary in Raymond.
