Frank J. O’Brien 90 years of age, died October 26, 2013 at the Willapa Harbor Care Center in Raymond, WA. He was born on March 31, 1923 in Burlington, WA to Edson and Estella O’Brien. He spent most of his life in Burlington. Frank met his future wife Maxine their freshmen year of High School. Frank graduated from Burlington High School in 1941. He attended Skagit Valley College from 1941-1942. Frank joined the Army Air Corp. during World War II he flew a tour of 35 missions with the 8th Air Force in England. He received 3 Bronze Battle Stars; he was awarded the Air Metal 5 times and the Distinguished Flying Cross. He married his wife of 68 years Maxine O’Brien on February 21, 1945. She preceded him in death. He was employed at O’Brien’s Market, Gearhart Ford, Blade Chevrolet and Washington Federal Savings and Loan. Frank’s special interests were golf, hunting, fishing, gardening and traveling with his wife. Frank was a longtime member of Mount Vernon First United Methodist Church. He belonged to the Masonic Lodge, Past President of the Burlington Lions Club, Life Member of the Elks Club, past member of the Mount Vernon Rotary Club and the Skagit Golf and Country club. He is survived by a son Mike (Marilynn) O’Brien and a grandson, Jeff O’Brien all of Raymond. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Edith O’Brien Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine, his brother, Gerald O’Brien. Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 16, 2013 at the Mount Vernon First United Methodist Church. Arrangements are in care of Stoller’s Mortuary of Raymond and Kern’s Funeral Home of Mount Vernon.
