Faye Evelyn Chapman, a Pacific County resident since 1963, died Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at the Providence Centralia Hospital; she was 83. Faye was born September 23, 1932 in Truman, Arkansas to J.V. and Fannie (Allen) Ritchie. Faye married Fred S. Chapman, Sr. September 9, 1952 in Chadron, Nebraska; he preceded her in death in 2009. Faye held many jobs in her lifetime and was extremely proud to work locally in law enforcement as dispatcher and jailer. She also performed these duties in Grays Harbor and Lewis County. Faye helped organize the local Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) group, she was an active member of the American Red Cross, the Raymond Eagles, volunteered for the local Alcoholics Anonymous and was a proud Democrat. Faye also faithfully attended PUD meetings and help form the Irate Rate Payers group. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, cooking and canning, playing pinochle, Yahtzee, and was a HAM radio operator. Her handle was the Queen of Diamonds. Memorial donations may be made to H.A.V.A. or Willapa Harbor Helping Hands. Faye is survived by two daughters; Loretta Hodgson of Old Willapa and Evelyn Davis of Raymond; three sons; James Padgett, Jr. of South Bend, Fred Chapman Jr. of Raymond and David Chapman of Old Willapa; 14 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren also survive her. She was preceded in death by her husband Fred, Sr. in 2009 and a son, Eddie Chapman in 2013. At Faye’s request a private gathering for family and friends will be held at a later date. Arrangements were in care of Stoller’s Mortuary in Raymond.
