Ena Bale

December 29, 1929 — June 11, 2024

On June 11th, heaven gained another angel. Ena Valfreda Torsvik Bale passed away after several illnesses. She was born in her family’s home in South Bend, Washington on December 29th, 1929 to Albert Torsvik and Fanny (Nybond) Torsvik. She had an older brother, Alfred Torsvik. Her father Albert died after WWI when she was two years old. She attended school in South Bend and was the Salutatorian of her graduating class in 1947. 

Ena met her husband Donald J. Bale while attending Youth for Christ with some friends. 

She made a commitment to Christ at the age of 13. At 15 and ½ years old Don gave Ena a promise ring and they were married June 19, 1947, at Raymond First Baptist Church.. Ena joined the church shortly after she married Don and was an active member for the past 76 years. 

Ena worked on the family farm in Baleville and spent nearly 39 years raising their family. A year after her youngest child left home her husband Don was in a tragic accident and proceeded her to heaven. Ena has spent much of the last 37 years enjoying her grandchildren, volunteering at church, Habitat for Humanity, quilting groups, school reading programs, the Pacific County Fair, Pennywise, and the Food Bank.. She was an avid reader and enjoyed watching sports and game shows.

She also traveled all around the world. She went on many trips around the US and Canada, Central and South America, Australia and Europe. When she wasn’t volunteering or traveling she enjoyed sewing, knitting, reading or playing Scrabble. 

Ena is Survived by daughters Laura Rohr, (Jerry), Amy Moyer, (Rick), son Randy Bale (Vickie), Larry Bale (Sue), David Bale (Kathy), 24 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.

 She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald J. Bale, mother and father, brother Al Torsvik, and grandson Matthew Rohr. 

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, June 22, 2024 @ 3:30 at the Raymond First Baptist Church, with a dinner following the service. Donations may be made to the Raymond First Baptist Church in her honor.
