Darrel Dean Stoller, 84, a longtime Raymond resident died Friday, October 6, 2023 at home. He was born March 2, 1939 in White Salmon, Washington to Meredith and Gilbert Stoller. 

He was a 1957 graduate of Trout Lake High School, where he met Joyce Guler. They married December 26th, 1959, the day after Christmas at the Trout Lake Presbyterian Church.

Darrel worked for both his father and father-in-law in the woods through the summers while attending Clark College. In 1960 he attended Mortuary School in San Francisco.  He and Joyce then relocated to Raymond, WA where he began work for Jim Murphy with the Murphy Mortuary and Ambulance Service in August of 1961. In 1979 Darrel took ownership of the Mortuary. His son Ron worked alongside him for 45 years as well as his granddaughter Christina for 18 years.  Darrel took great pride in helping our community through the loss of their loved ones and retired from funeral service after 61 years in 2021.

Darrel was an avid hunter who enjoyed hunting the Willapa Hills where many memories were made with his children and grandchildren. His love for the outdoors led him to various states as well as Canada, New Zealand and Africa. For 19 years he and Joyce enjoyed their winters in Arizona, where they made many friends. Time was also well spent with his friends over morning coffee.

He was a life member of the Willapa Harbor Gun Club, Raymond Elks and the Lewis Pacific Swiss Society as well as a member of the Lions Club and North American Hunting Club.

Family was very important to Darrel, he is survived by his wife of 63 years, Joyce Stoller; his son Ronald (Sherri) Stoller, his daughter Beverly (Bill) Kimbrel; granddaughter Christina (Dustin Howard) Westerback and grandson Robert (Kenadee) Westerback all of Raymond, WA. He is also survived by 5 great grandchildren, a great grandson arriving in March as well as 4 step great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Meredith & Gilbert; brothers, Donald & Frank Stoller as well as a sister Lorene Drake.

Private family graveside services will be held at the Fern Hill Cemetery in Menlo, Washington.  A celebration of life will be held at Crossroads Church Fellowship Hall at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 12, 2023.
