Carol McDonald passed away peacefully at home after a long, valiant fight against Multiple Sclerosis. Carol was born on May 5, 1936 in South Bend, WA to Carl "Swede" Johnson & Doris (Meadows) Johnson. She attended school in South Bend for 11 years and graduated from Willapa Valley High School, where she met the love of her life, Keith V. McDonald. They married and raised three sons, Doug, Jeff and David. Carol was a Cub Scout Den Mother for several years. She was also active in Lionettes, Lioness, Lady Lions and Lions Clubs for decades. She held offices in all those groups and was best known for running the Balloon Booth at the Pacific County Fair for many, many years. Carol loved baking, especially making cookies and cardamom bread. She also loved being at her cabin at Lake Cushman. She stayed active despite the limitations of her illness. Carol may be best known for her wicked sense of humor, sometimes at her own expense. Carol was preceded in death by her husband Keith. She is survived by sons Doug and his wife Jan—who she considered her daughter—of Raymond, Jeff of Federal Way, and David of New York City; grandsons Matthew (Briana) of Imperial Beach, CA and Daniel (Kris) of Bingen, WA and her great-grandson Miles of Bingen. She is also survived by her sisters Pat (Scott) Pollard, Susie Smith, and brother Michael (Sandy) Spencer, all of Raymond, as well as many nephews and nieces, longtime coworker and friend Betty K. Porter and close friends she considered family. The family wishes to thank Monica Meza for her help and support. Carol requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to HAVA, Harbors Home Health & Hospice, or a charity of your choice. A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at Willapa United Methodist Church. Arrangements are in care of Stoller’s Mortuary in Raymond, WA.
