Obituary

Carl Alan Ariss passed away on April 10th, 2026, in South Bend, Washington, where he

was born, raised, and raised his own family.

Carl was born on October 26 th , 1963, at Willapa Harbor Hospital to Armour William (Bill)

Ariss and Pearl Ariss. He graduated from South Bend High School in 1982 and briefly

attended Grays Harbor College. In 1983, he joined the Marine Corps and completed

boot camp in Barstow, California. Carl transferred to the Army National Guard in 1984

and was stationed in Montesano, Washington, as part of the 248th Transportation

Battalion. Carl was honorably discharged in 1989 as an E-6.

Carl then went to work at Coast Seafoods in South Bend and ended his time there as a

supervisor in the grading and shipping room. He then began his 27-year career at

Pacific County PUD, initially as a laborer, and ending his time as a Journeyman

Lineman. Carl knew how to work hard and still find time to help those around him.

Carl married Teresa Hardy April 22nd, 1989, in South Bend, Washington. They had two

sons, William Alan of Raymond, and Timothy James who preceded him in death. He is

survived by his wife Teresa, his son William, and several nieces and nephews. He was

also preceded in death by his parents, his stepsisters, Ella Korpi and Midge Porter, and

his stepbrother, Arnold Ariss.

Carl’s commitment to his community was quiet and deep. For 25+ years, he spent hours

each season maintaining and hanging the Christmas lights in South Bend with his

family. Before his passing, his family raised funds to acquire a Christmas tree for the

City of South Bend to display during the holidays. Though he will not see the project

come to its fruition, his family hopes you will see it and remember him fondly.

A graveside service for public attendance will be held for Carl at Fern Hill Cemetery in

Menlo, Washington, on Saturday, May 9th, 2026, at 10:00 AM.
