Billy Edward Best, known to some as Woody, died at Olympia, Washington Thursday November 20, 2014. He was born March 14, 1943 at Spirit Lake, Idaho to Jonnie Edward and Lucile Eleanor (Lowden) Best. Woody graduated from Spirit Lake High School he enlisted with the United States Army in 1962 and was honorably discharged in 1965. He went on to drive log truck for 37 years until his retirement in 2006. He enjoyed old cars, walks and cutting wood. He was also active in a line dancing club for many years. Billy is survived by a son Charles Edward Best of Daphne, Alabama; a daughter Fawn Orlinda Cooper of Montesano, WA; two brothers, Terry Best of Tacoma, George Best of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho and a brother-in-law Reuben Kunz also of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Billy is also survived by two sisters Eilene Sharp of Tacoma and Helen DeCosta of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; his special friends include anyone who would lend an ear. A Potluck Celebration of Billy’s Life will be held at 12:00 noon, Saturday, December 6, 2014 at the American Legion in Raymond where Military Honors will be accorded. Memorials may be made to the Willapa Harbor Helping Hands at P.O. Box 597, South Bend, WA 98586; or HAVA Heart at P.O. Box 243, Raymond, WA 98577. Memorial arrangements were in care of Stoller’s Mortuary in Raymond.
