Barbara Ellen Clapshaw, a Raymond resident died Sunday, December 4, 2016 at her home, she was 87. Barbara was born May 4, 1929 in Elma, WA to John Emil and Margaret (Bechtel) Newman. Barbara was proud of her positions held during her memberships at the Raymond Eagles, American Legion and the Raymond V.F.W. Including being a part of the Raymond Eagles Auxiliary Ritual Team also enjoyed her time spent crocheting, knitting and playing cards including pinochle and visiting the Casino. She married Ray Carlson, they later divorced. Barbara then married Herbert Clapshaw, he preceded her in death in 1987. Barbara is survived by her children Gerald (Judy) Carlson, Robert Carlson, Donna (Dave) Lund, Randy (Kris) Carlson and Stan (Sherry) Carlson all of Raymond; brothers and sisters, Elizabeth Kitterman, Beverly Dickman, Donald Newman and Selma Cardwell. Also surviving her are 12 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister Lorraine Lee, brothers John Newman, Kenneth Newman and Ray Newman, one grandchild and one great grandchild as well as stepdaughters Arlene Schultz, Shirley Humphrey and stepson Jerry Clapshaw. A celebration of life will be held at the Raymond Eagles 1:00 pm on Saturday, December 17, 2016. Cremation arrangements are in care of Stoller’s Mortuary in Raymond.
